Family Reunion

Saturday was my family's annual reunion.  I was especially excited to attend this year's gathering, as I was in Stephanie & Chris' wedding last year and couldn't go.  I don't have any siblings or many first cousins, but I make up for all of that with second cousins!  There are so many little kids and big kids we have nothing but fun whenwe all get together.  One of
our traditions is to grab water balloons (and then anything that holds water) for a huge water fight.  The goal is to get anyone new
soaked.  We eat a lot, play a lot, and I of course take a
ton of pictures.  Enjoy!

Surroundings

I've been trying to go on bike rides around my neighborhood to get this new thing called exercise.  Hmm, we'll see how it goes.  To entertain myself, and possibly others, I've started taking my camera with me to capture the beautiful setting sun and green fields that are around the area.  It's a lot safer than riding with my iPod blaring in my ears. :)

P.S. I also have this fascination with attaching some sort of lyrics with photos.  It's almost a challenge or puzzle to get the right one to fit.  I think it's cool, so just nod along and pretend you do too.

Out where your troubles can't find you
Out where you leave them all behind
Out where the moon shines sweetly
Won't you meet me, down on the county line

Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend, til you break
Cause it's all you can take

Everyday is a winding road
I get a little bit closer
Everyday is a faded sign
I get a little bit closer to feeling fine

*Note: Yes, I realize it's a pretty straight road.

Love burns brighter than sunshine

No I cannot forget where it is that I come from
I cannot forget the people who love me
Yeah, I can be myself here in this small town
And people let me be just what I want to be

Back on Track

Well, as you can probably tell, it's been awhile since I've updated this blog. Things have been hectic! Stephanie and I have been discussing business plans that will mostly bore you...except for one thing - our name! Milestone Photography is our name, and taking pretty pictures is our game. We are both really excited to start putting our words into action. We've been planning for (what seems like) forever, and now the warm weather is finally arriving.

We'll be focusing on senior portraits and family pho
tos. If you or anyone you know would be interested in hiring us, please let us know: sb.milestonephotography@gmail.com . Dave is working on our site, and it's really looking good so far. I'll post a link once it's up and running, so you can check out our combined efforts.

If you want to be a model for us and have your picture on our website, let us know that, too. We love taking pictures of friends, because w
e already know you so well (and can make you do weird stuff, haha). Let me/us know if there's anything you'd like to see from a photographer or any comments in general. Thanks!

Also, some updated pictures of my cousins, the triplets.
They just t

They're still completely adorable...

California, Here We Come!

Stephanie (my photo partner in crime), her husband Chris, and I took a 5 day trip to California last week. We went to see our good, actually great, friends, Becca & Lance (see their wedding album). Long story short, it was an awesome week.

Here's a run down of our schedule:

Tuesday night: arrive in Sacramento and drive to Davis (where we stayed with Tess, Lance's mom)

Wednesday: explore Davis and Sacramento + Lake Berryessa (which looks like Scotland)

Thursday: Napa Valley with Tess, Rick, and Rick's friends in the limo that Tess got for us (yay!!!!)

Friday: Silicon Valley (to have lunch with Chris' friend) and Winchester Mansion near San Jose; Dave shows up from Seattle

Saturday: San Francisco (Alcatraz, Castro district, and the Pacific Ocean)

Sunday: time to go home

The Challenge...

Happy 2008!

Stephanie and I are working on the necessary business aspects of photography as of late to prepare ourselves as much as possible for the warmer (and hopefully busy) months. In the very near future, we should have a name for our business, woo hoo! It's harder than you'd think to come up with a good name for a business.

Anyway, Dave and I were talking the other night, and our conversation went something like this:

Dave: taken any new photos on your new camera?
Me: no, not really, it's too cold and the trees are bare.
Dave: (paraphrasing) I'm going to take pictures every day this week of trees in the cold weather.
Me: ok, have fun.

(I've only seen two so far, so he hasn't won yet.)
................................

Well, for some reason or another, I felt like there was an unspoken challenge to take some pictures outside in this not so gorgeous weather too. So, I did! Enjoy!

Christmas on the Corner & Our FIRST Clients!

Christmas on the Corner finally came to fruition last weekend. Luckily, it only rained before and after our event, and we completely missed the snowstorm that we are now having a week later. The house looked great, and ALL the lights worked when all the switches were flipped. I think everyone on our committee cheered a little louder than everyone else in celebration that it all ran fairly well. We raised (and are still raising) a good amount of money to help the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana. I also took a lot of pictures with Santa (I know him!), but for privacy reasons I can't post them (since I don't have permission from the parents). I can't wait for next year when it's sure to be bigger and even better!

Christmas on the Corner 2007

Soon after...

Tina and her family contacted Laura (Laura & Mark's pictures are in another album from this fall) about having Stephanie and I do her family's Christmas pictures. We had a great time and were fortunate enough to have a great family to work with. They were our first clients that were complete strangers to us. It's exciting to branch out past friends. Don't get me wrong, I'll still be photographing friends and family every chance I get. Carter & Daeton are too cute for words and love to smile and play. Thanks to Tina and her family for letting us take their Christmas pictures, and being our first clients!

Toddler Triplets

I finally got my camera, and I am so excited to have one of my own to take better pictures. My first photos were of things around the house ... more like a kitty named Moppy that's always around the house. It's pretty hard to not love him since he just falls over when you start petting him and his little motorboat sounding purr starts coming out.

My first real (human) subjects were my cousins! The triplets are just so darn cute. I love seeing them more and more as they keep growing and increasing their vocabulary. Mom, Dad, and I went over a few nights ago to 1) take their Christmas pictures 2) give Pam & John a night off and 3) play with them of course! Enough out of me; check out the pictures!

Fall Foliage

I love fall, don't you too? Well, my good friend Stephanie and I did our first official photoshoot together last Sunday. We went to Butler University's beautiful campus to photograph our friends, Laura & Mark. Stephanie took most of the pictures, while I posed the newlyweds. We both took the originals and edited them, knowing that we use different software and would end up with different looks. I think we got a few that are really awesome. Stephanie's version of the shoot can be found here.

I'm really glad Steph and I are working together now with this whole photography thing. I think it's the beginning of a beautiful business. I'll let you know when we're completely official and actually have business cards and a website and all that jazz.

Thanks to Laura & Mark for letting us photograph them all afternoon!
