Day 6 at the Hilton Chicago. Our trip was extended due to the client's request. We stayed another day and it was great. The meeting itself was winding down, but I had the opportunity to go to Mercat with one of our clients and two other ladies Thursday night. Even though one lady almost caught a paper menu on fire (there was a black spot) and another friend at a different table knocked over a candle (subsequently spilling hot wax ALL over an ottoman), we all had a good time. I finally had a glass of wine and got out of the hotel. Just what the doctor ordered (or what I'd imagine my doctor would order). ;)
While dining at Mercat a la planxa, we tried these croquetas with ham and chorizo, the "patatas bravas" which were spicy potatoes with spicy paprika aioli, and finally, my favorite, "patatas a la riojana" which were heirloom baby potatoes with cider braised chorizo, manchego espuma, and piment d'espelette. YUM!
It was fun going on site and working in Chicago. Even though I really only left the hotel twice, I love the vibe of the city. I got to have a few really good conversations with new friends, and now have a strong desire to go on the Chicago Architecture Tour! If you want to go, just let me know! :)
